Regular meetings, with guest tutors, are held on the second Wednesday of each month, at St Scholastica’s College, Glebe.

Some meetings are designated Players’ Nights, where groups and individuals have the opportunity to perform pieces they have been working on. A more formal Soiree takes the place of the usual November meeting and family and friends are invited to hear these performances.

Two weekend workshops are held each year at Bundanoon in the Southern Highlands. These are organised alternately by the Society and the Canberra Recorder and Early Music Society (CREMS).

For other information about the Society, see the Upcoming Events page where information about the year’s monthly meetings is provided.

How to get to St Scholastica’s College Hall

The meeting starts at 7.00pm. Please have your music stand and recorders assembled and ready by that time. Supper is served after the meeting so please bring your own tea or coffee cup. The meeting concludes at 9pm. (There is a small fee upon entry.)

If coming by public transport:

  • The bus travels along Glebe Point Road. Get off at the bus stop near Toxteth Road.  You will see the Toxteth Hotel across the road, on a corner.

  • The footpath from the bus stop on Glebe Point Road to the School is well lit.

  • Walk along Toxteth Road and take the 3rd road on your right which is Avenue Rd.

  • The school is on the corner of Avenue and Arcadia Roads. Enter via the gate on that corner.

  • Follow the path, past school buildings on your left. The school Hall is at the end of the path.

  • Walk through the main hall - our meetings are held in a smaller room just beyond the main space.

If driving:

  • From Glebe Point Road, turn left into Toxteth Road and right into Maxwell Road (4th street).

  • Turn left into Arcadia Rd (trees down the middle of the road). Turn right into Maxwell Rd and park.

  • The school is accessed by walking up Maxwell Lane.

  • At the end of the lane, the School Hall is on your left. Walk through the hall to the small room beyond it.
